Day 1: Reykjavik (49km)
Arrival and 1 night at Guesthouse Borgartun or Grand Hotel Reykjavik for additional charge. Optional activity: Blue Lagoon, depending on time of arrival. (O)

Day 2: Going North (390km)
Explore the saga valley of Borgarfj÷r­ur in West Iceland and climb Grßbrˇk volcano in the Bifr÷st area. Continue to Skagafj÷r­ur, valley of the horses and sagas. Here you find the GlaumbŠr turf farm & folk museum and the Vi­imřri church, one of the most beautiful examples of traditional turf church architecture. 1 night at Hotel Nor­urland in Akureyri. (B,O)
Optional activities: Seal watching in Northwest Iceland or horseback riding in Akureyri.

Day 3: Akureyri & Lake Myvatn (135km)
Akureyri is the capital of North Iceland and we recommend a visit to the old town, the modern church and botanical garden. Continue to Go­afoss, the waterfall of the Gods. Lake Mřvatn offers a wide spectrum of volcanic and geological features, abundant bird life and a wealth of walking trails. 1 night at Hotel GÝgur, Lake Mřvatn. (B,O)
Optional activity: Early morning whale watching & fjord cruise from Akureyri. 
Optional activity: Nature Baths at Lake Mřvatn (ôblue lagoon of the Northö).

Day 4: Going East (270km)
Travel east over J÷kuldalshei­i moorland plateau, lava and sand desert. We recommend a detour to Dettifoss, Europe's most powerful waterfall, subject to season. Egilssta­ir is the center of East Iceland, located at L÷gurinn Lake and not far from Hallormssta­ur woods and Hengifoss, Iceland's 2nd highest waterfall. Continue to the small village of Fßskr˙­sfj÷r­ur in the East Fjords and stay at one of Iceland's most charming hotels. 1 night at Fosshotel Eastfjords in Fßskr˙­sfj÷r­ur. (B,O)

Day 5: Vatnajokull National Park (410km)

Travel the scenic route along the dramatic fjord landscape and fishing villages of East Iceland before reaching Vatnaj÷kull, Europe's largest glacier and National Park. We recommend a boat tour between icebergs on J÷kulsßrlˇn glacial lagoon and a short hike in Skaftafell National Park. 1 night at Laki Cottages in KirkjubŠjarklaustur. (B,O)

Day 6: South Shore (220km)

A beautiful drive with many natural wonders awaits you today as you head across the Laki lava field, pass the waterfalls Skˇgafoss and Seljalandsfoss. The bird cliffs of Dyrhˇlaey and Reynisfjara are simply amazing. We recommend also a stroll on the black lava beaches of VÝk and a visit to the folk museum and turf houses at Skˇgar. 1 night at Hotel Írk in Hverager­i. 
Optional activities: Glacier hike on Sˇlheimaj÷kull or a snowmobile tour on Mřrdalsj÷kull glacier.

Day 7: Golden Circle (195km)

Today's program is called Golden Circle with Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir hot springs and Thingvellir National Park. Take some time to explore Reykjavik, Iceland's capital. 1 night at Guesthouse Borgart˙n or Grand Hotel ReykjavÝk for additional charge. (B,O)
Optional activities: Horseback riding, river rafting or entrance to Fontana geothermal steam baths. 

Day 8: Reykjavik & Reykjanes (150km)

The capital ReykjavÝk has plenty of recreational areas, sightseeing attractions and activities, for example option for whale watching tours. The Reykjanes peninsula offers diverse geological features, several light houses, hot springs, mountains, bird cliffs and the famous Blue Lagoon. There is also a Viking ship museum and the popular salt fish museum. (B,O)
