Day 1, Monday: West Iceland and over the mountains to the North

After leaving Reykjavík, we explore Hraunfossar waterfalls, Europe's most powerful hot spring and climb the Grábrók volcano crater in West Iceland. We get an insight to Iceland's past at Glaumbćr turf farm & folk museum. We continue along fjords and over mountains to Akureyri - the capital of North Iceland, our base for the next five nights. (O)


Day 2, Tuesday: Akureyri and optional tour to Hrisey Island

Morning walk in Akureyri and a visit to the botanical garden. The rest of the day is free for leisure or an optional afternoon excursion by bus and ferry to Hrísey Island. (B,O)


Day 3, Wednesday: Geological wonders of Lake Myvatn

Full day excursion to Gođafoss waterfall and Lake Mývatn, known for its rich bird life and extraordinary volcanic lava landscapes. (B,O)


Day 4, Thursday: Leisure Day of Option day tour to Siglufjordur

Explore Akureyri on your own or join our optional day excursion to Iceland's most northern town, Siglufjörđur, known as the herring capital of Iceland and spectacular fjord landscape. (B,O)


Day 5, Friday: Whales, Waterfalls & Europe's largest National Park 

Húsavík is a picturesque small fishing town in Northeast Iceland where you can join an optional whale watching cruise or visit some of the many museums. In the afternoon we travel to Jökulsárgljúfur National Park and visit the horseshoe shaped canyon of Ásbyrgi and Dettifoss, Europe's most powerful waterfall. (B,O)


Day 6, Saturday: Kjolur Highland Road

We go through the heart of Iceland today – travelling on the Kjölur Trail, between the glaciers Langjökull and Hofsjökull. We will stop at the hot springs of Hveravellir, where you can soak in a natural hot pool. Hella in South Iceland is our base for the next six nights.  (B,O)


Day 7, Sunday: Pjorsardlur

We travel alongside the Hekla volcano and visit the Hjálparfoss waterfall, the Viking farm ruins at Stöng and enjoy a leisurely hike to Gjáin which appears  to be like an oasis in this moon landscape. (B,O)


Day 8, Monday: South Shore

We visit the glaciers, waterfalls, bird cliffs and lava beaches of South Iceland. You have free time for an optional glacier walk or visit the area of to the bird cliffs and lave beaches near Vik together with our guide.  (B,O)


Day 9, Tuesday: Westman Islands

We take a short ferry ride to the Westman Islands. There will be a bus and walking tour of the village of Heimaey. You will have the afternoon free to explore the island, with its birds and signs of recent volcanic eruptions. (B,O)


Day 10, Wednesday: Leisure Day or optional day tour to Vatnajokull National Park

Today is a leisure day or you can join an optional day tour to Skaftafell National Park,  travel alongside Iceland's highest mountains and Europe's largest glacier to Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon with floating icebergs. (B,O)


Day 11, Thursday: Golden Circle

A day to visit three of Iceland’s most important spots: Gullfoss waterfall, Geyser hot springs and Ţingvellir National Park. (B,O)


Day 12, Friday: Reykjanes Peninsula, Blue Lagoon & Reykjavik

Hot springs, lava fields, amazing bird cliffs and moon landscapes are on today's itinerary. After an optional visit to the Blue Lagoon we return to Reykjavík for a city tour. (B)



•About 1-2 hours light walking each day, mainly several short walks from the bus to the different nature sights. It is an easy tour in which nearly everyone can take part.
•Total mileage is about 2.410 km (1.495 miles) for the tour, and about 990 km (614 miles) for the optional tours. You spend about 4 hours per day on the bus, depending on road conditions, traffic and daily distances. On some days the driving might be longer than on some other days.
